NEW ZEALAND: NEW RESIDENT VISA PATHWAY FOR AROUND 165,000 MIGRANTS

The New Zealand Government announced on September 30, 2021, a new one-time resident visa pathway for selected temporary work visa holders currently in New Zealand. After delays in processing residency applications during the Covid-19 outbreak, New Zealand is expected to issue this new resident visa to around165,000 migrants.
Some critical purpose visa holders who arrive in New Zealand on long-term visas between September 30, 2021, and July 31, 2022, may be eligible for this new visa. These applications for residency can include partners and dependents as well.
Some eligible applicants will be able to apply from December 1, 2021, while the rest eligible applicants will be able to apply beginning March 1, 2022.
Over 5,000 health and aged care employees, around 9,000 primary industry workers, and over 800 teachers are expected to benefit from this resident visa pathway. For the major requirements and eligibility criteria, please click here.
