NEW ZEALAND STANDARDISES POLICE CERTIFICATES FROM INDIA

As a New Zealand Licensed Immigration Adviser and Australian Registered Migration Agent, I always make sure our clients are kept up-to-date with the latest immigration policies and requirements. I want to bring your attention to an important change concerning police clearance certificates for Indian visa applicants.

Effective December 1, 2025, Immigration New Zealand will only accept police clearance certificates issued by a Regional Passport Office of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

WHY THE CHANGE?

Previously, Indian visa applicants could submit police clearance certificates from various sources, including an Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, or a local police station. However, to ensure consistency in the format of the documents and to simplify the authentication process, Immigration New Zealand is now streamlining the requirement.

This new rule applies only to applicants who are currently residing in India. The requirements for Indian nationals living outside of India and for non-Indian nationals who have resided in India remain unchanged.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

If you are an Indian national living in India and planning to apply for a New Zealand visa, you must now obtain your police clearance certificate exclusively from a Regional Passport Office of the Ministry of External Affairs. It is crucial to start this process well in advance, as gathering all the necessary documents for a visa application takes time.

We at Fortune Immigration and Education are here to guide you through this process and help you navigate these changes. Our goal is to make your visa application as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions about your New Zealand or Australian immigration journey.
