CANADA EXTENDED BORDER CLOSURE

Updated: Jul 16, 2021

Canada Border Closure

Canada has extended it's border closure until 31st July 2020. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada had already indicated the same. People can travel to Canada only for essential reasons (eg: health-care workers) and if they want to join their immediate family in Canada. This is a measure to contain the spread of coronavirus in Canada.

This travel ban is applicable to most international travellers who are not Canadian citizens, permanent residents of U.S. residents classified as essential. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has banned entry to Canada through all modes of transportation - land, sea, air, and rail.

Canada's border with the US will also be closed at least until 21st July 2020. It's mandatory for most of the travellers to Canada that they have to quarantine for 14 days. The current quarantine policy has been extended to the end of August 2020.

Legislation and policy about immigration in Canada change quite often. Please make sure that you check the website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for changes that may be applicable to you.
